In the previous post we created a new custom view , and we saw how to use it as well. Now we will be generating a custom Report and then download this report in pdf / csv format. Reports as the name suggest provides information for any of the objects managed by our vROps including both vSphere and Non-vSphere environments. These Reports basically can contain View and or Dashboards in it. If you are unable to see green plus sign that means that license that we have is vROps Standard version. Only Advanced and Enterprise version of vROps lets you customize Dashboards and Reports. So lets begin , we must navigate to content section in the Home screen.

1

In Content section, Choose Reports in left hand navigation pane and then click on New Template as shown in the above image.
A new pop up window appears, provide the Name and Description of the Report that we are creating , In this example I am creating a Report for all the VM’s Memory consumption and hence the name VM Memory Report. Click on Views and Dashboards

1

Choose Views or Dashboards or both that are to be represented in our Report, We must choose the data type and drag and drop the appropriate Views / Dashboards that is a part of the Report as shown in the below image.

1

Choose the format pdf/csv in which you want to generate this Report , I unchecked CSV as I only want the Report in PDF format as shown in the below.

1

Final step is choose the Layout Options for this Report, We can add a Custom Cover Page with our organisations logo  to make it look more professional , We also can add Table of Contents , Footer in the Report. etc  Once the Custom Report has been Stored in the lists of Reports, We can now add the search the Custom report that we just created and Click Run Template as shown below.

1

A new pop window appears , Choose vSphere hosts and Cluster and then Choose the object on which on you want to create this custom Report. In the below example I have chosen a VM and generated the Report for that VM alone.

1

After this we must click on the generated reports section , it becomes 0 to 1 after the above operation. We must wait for Report Status to change from “Processing” to “Completed” and then we can download the new Custom Report that we created, In the next post we will see creation of Custom Dashboards.
